Stop 01 · Get found

Be the business the AI recommends.

AI search optimization, also called GEO or AEO, is the work of getting your business named when a buyer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot or Google's AI answers instead of typing a search. It is not a rebrand of SEO: different crawlers read your site, different rules control their access, and different pages get quoted. We measure where you stand today, fix what blocks you, and watch it every week.

What this covers

Everything on this stop.

Crawler access audit

Whether the AI crawlers can reach you at all. Most sites block one by accident, and blocking the wrong bot can take Google and Bing down with it.

Readability for AI

No major AI crawler runs JavaScript. If your content only appears after the page loads, it is invisible to them. We test with the crawler's own eyes.

Answer-shaped content

AI answers quote passages, not pages. Direct answers, question-shaped headings, tables and real numbers are what get lifted into a reply.

Entity and directory presence

When asked to recommend a supplier, assistants quote directories and profiles more than company websites. We build the profiles that get cited.

Citation tracking

We ask the assistants your buyers' actual questions every week and record who gets named, so visibility becomes a number instead of a hunch.

Monthly monitoring

The engines change their plumbing without warning. We watch the official sources daily and tell you when something moves that affects you.

The honest version

Most businesses are invisible here, and it is measurable.

Google searches have not fallen. Clicks have: around two thirds of searches now end without anyone visiting a website, because the answer appears on the results page. Meanwhile only about 45% of the businesses that win Google's local map pack are ever named by an AI assistant. Ranking well no longer means being recommended. The useful part is that this is checkable in five minutes on your own numbers, which is where we start.

How it works

Four steps, in order.

1

Free check

Automated report: which AI crawlers can reach you, whether your content is readable without JavaScript, your structured data, and one live query asking an assistant about your trade.

2

Audit

The same checks done properly by a person, plus Bing Webmaster and its AI Performance report set up, which is the only first-party record of AI citations that exists.

3

Fix

Crawler rules, server-rendered content, entity graph, answer-shaped pages and the directory profiles that get quoted for recommendation questions.

4

Monitor

Weekly citation tracking across engines, plus alerts when an engine changes the rules. Content work continues if you want it.

Fair questions

Asked before, answered here.

What is GEO, and is it different from SEO?

GEO, generative engine optimization, is getting your business cited inside an AI assistant's answer. SEO earns a position on a results page. The difference is practical, not cosmetic: ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity read the web with their own crawlers, none of which run JavaScript, and each is fed by a different index. A site can rank on Google and still be unreadable to all three.

How do I know if ChatGPT recommends my business?

Ask it the question your customer would ask, naming your trade and city rather than your company, and see who gets listed. That takes a minute and it is the first thing we do on a call. For a proper answer we run the same question across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini every week and track how often you appear against your competitors.

Will you guarantee we get cited?

No, and nobody honestly can. Citations are decided by systems no agency controls, and they shift without notice: Reddit lost roughly 86% of its ChatGPT citations in a single week in August 2026. We sell the audit, the fixes and the monitoring. Anyone promising a number of citations is guessing, or worse.

How much traffic will this actually bring?

Less than you might hope, worth more than you would expect. Across 13,770 websites in Conductor's 2026 benchmark, AI assistants sent about 1% of visits, and the share is growing. Our own brand is at 40%, and we treat that as an outlier rather than a promise. The reason it still pays is quality: visitors arriving from an assistant have already been told you are the answer, and they convert several times better than search traffic.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

No. It is the most-sold non-solution in this field. Google has stated three separate times that it does not read llms.txt, and no major AI company has committed to using it in production. We ship one on our own site because it costs ten minutes and prospects look for it, and we tell you plainly that it changes nothing.

How long before anything changes?

Crawler and readability fixes take effect as soon as the engines next visit, often within days on Perplexity and Bing. Being recommended for competitive questions is slower and depends on your reputation off your own website, so think in months. On a brand new domain, three to nine months is the honest window.
